Grocery shopping is slowly moving from the hot, hussle and bussle street markets into air-conditioned supermarkets with the long-awaited (for some) fixed pricing. There is a range of large Vietnamese supermarkets, foreign hypermarkets and smaller specialist grocery shops catering towards expats. Here’s a list of the main ones to go to:
An Phu Supermarket

An Phú Supermarket is the main supermarket in Thảo Điền, District 2. They have an excellent selection of both local and international food brands. Together with respectable opening hours and a convenient location, this is pretty much a main go-to point for all residents in the area.
Annam Gourmet Market

Annam Gourmet Market is a small chain of international grocery stores. Started out as a shop offering imported food for expats, but has now grown into two of the largest international grocery stores serving thousands of customers with food from around the world here in HCMC.

Lotte Mart

Lotte Mart is a South Korean-Japanese supermarket/hypermarket chain. Not many branches in HCMC but the centers are huge and sell pretty much everything from clothing to fresh food. Its mother company, Lotte, is one of the most prominent shopping companies in Asia today.

Maximark is a small local supermarket chain but similar to Lotte Mart they are also mega centres. A favourable choice to locals rather than Expats.

Metro supermarkets are owned by German Metro Group, the fourth largest retailer in the world. In HCMC they have several very large supermarkets which double as wholesale markets with many products being sold in bulk. Products on offer ranges from clothing, home electronics to fresh food and fish.
